I’m Hobart based but I’m mobile, so I can get to you pretty much anywhere around Tassie, whether that’s Launceston, the north west, the Huon or the east coast. Plenty of clients don’t need to meet at all though, and most of it gets done over the phone and email.
I do a lot of home loans for FIFO workers. Some are Tasmanians flying out to the mines, others live in Perth and work up north. Lenders all treat rosters, site allowances and overtime a bit differently and some are a lot fussier than others about how long you’ve been in the role, so it pays to know which ones will actually count your full income. I’m used to working around swings too, we can sort most things out on your days off or in a quick call from site.

I’m Cam (Cameron) Brumby, born and raised in Hobart, and I’ve spent close to ten years working in finance around Tasmania. I started out in car dealerships and became a business manager in 2017, which meant arranging finance for customers every day and managing the money side of the dealership, and I did that for more than three years before moving to MyState Bank as a mobile home finance specialist. At MyState I looked after home loans from the first conversation through to settlement, travelling to meet clients wherever suited them, and that time on the bank side taught me exactly how lenders assess an application, which is a big part of why I can usually tell early on which lenders will suit someone and which ones will be a waste of their time.
In 2024 I moved into broking so I could give my clients the choice of more than 70 lenders instead of one bank’s products, and I’m now a director at Fortify Loans, where I work with first home buyers, self-employed borrowers, investors and people looking to refinance. I hold a Diploma of Finance and Mortgage Broking Management and I’m a member of the FBAA. A lot of first home buyers come to me unsure about grants and stamp duty concessions, so I spend time walking them through what they’re eligible for and how it fits with their deposit.
Most of my clients are in and around Hobart, although I also help people interstate who are buying here, and plenty who were referred by family or friends.
For most home loans there’s no fee for my service, because the lender pays me a commission once your loan settles, and I’ll always explain how that works before we go ahead. Some lenders charge their own application or valuation fees, and I’ll point those out before you apply.
It depends on the lender and whether you’re eligible for a scheme, and some first home buyers can buy with as little as 5 per cent without paying lenders mortgage insurance through the Home Guarantee Scheme. I’d rather look at your situation than give you a number that doesn’t fit, so it’s worth a quick chat.
Yes, and it’s one of the areas I do the most work in. Depending on the lender you may need one or two years of tax returns, or in some cases BAS statements or a letter from your accountant, and I’ll help you work out which option makes the most sense.
Most of my clients are around Hobart and southern Tasmania, but I’m mobile so I get around the rest of the state too, and I work with people all over Australia, including a lot of FIFO workers based in Perth. Most of the process happens over the phone and by email anyway.

A lot of my new clients come through people I’ve already helped, and I’m grateful every time someone passes my name on. If you know someone who could use a hand, send them this page or let me know and I’ll give them a call.
