Lenders Mortgage Insurance (LMI) is a fee you may have to pay when purchasing, refinancing or building and you are borrowing more than 80% of a property's value.

If you're buying a home, you'll need to have at least 5% of the purchase price of the house as a deposit. This means that for a $400,000 purchase, you'll need a deposit of at least $20,000. Aside from that, you may need an additional 5% of the purchase price to cover your purchasing costs. These mainly include government fees such as stamp duty and other costs like conveyancing fees and LMI.

This will depend on your unique situation but generally speaking as a nurse, midwife or medical professional you could be able to borrow up to 90% of the property value.
